Purple Reign - Part 1

Description

I rendered this a while back and just never got around to do the postwork on it. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. There's a part 2 to this where I changed the pose and did a different background. I'm pretty happy with both of them at this moment, though I'm sure I'll look at them tomorrow and find all kinds of things I could have better. That seems to be the way of things with me. haha.

Hope you enjoy it!

Here's Part 2 -

Rendered in Poser 8. Postwork done in Photoshop.

The overall tone of this piece is very menacing. The facial expression and stance of the figure have a no-nonsense air about them, and the background reinforces the theme with its arcane symbols and the glowing ring on the floor. However, I almost feel that the background distracts the eye from the subject simply because there is so much going on. I think that having a solid purple background would help with this--I don't think the ring on the floor is part of the issue--it seems seamless and inseparable from the subject. But to my eye, the symbols and diagrams that texture the back wall want to grab my attention (since they are such neat symbols--I love them!) and the focus shifts from the subject to what is going on around her.

Also, I love the intense lighting you have employed in this piece; it reinforces the "umph" (technical term) of the overall composition. Very nice. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)" />
